Background
Although DMS is a marketing entity, its firm belief in the necessity of its responsibility towards society, motivated DMS towards creating an independent department that facilitates DMS’ participation in socially beneficial projects. The department works to sustain DMS’ commitment to its moral standings towards all its stakeholders. This direction is in line with the current global trend towards active corporate participation in socially responsible initiatives. In the year 2005 a Mercer Consulting report reflected that: “70% of global investment managers surveyed believe that integrating environmental, social and governance issues into analysis will become mainstream in 3-10 years”. A survey administrated at The European Conference on CSR (Maastricht, November 7-9, 2004) & The BSR Annual Conference (New York, November 9-12, 2004) states that “Overall, respondents see CSR as becoming an even more important part of business practice five years from now, and will make crucial necessary contributions for the betterment of people and the environment.”

People:

DMS IT department management has many years of experience in diverse organizations including multinational companies. Educational background includes MIS studies and Masters in Business Administration and international technical and managerial trainings.

Communications and Infrastructure is handled by honor graduates in Computer Engineering who have been trained in the best-in-class training centers in the region. The knowledge mastered includes Networking, IP Telephony, Call Centers Setup and Operations, IVR development, Technical Support... etc.

Data Management is handled by Oracle certified computer science graduates with strong business understanding and experience in managing data from different sources and in different formats. The areas of focus include Database Administration, Data Warehousing, Data Cleaning, Quality Assurance... etc.

The team working on Applications Development in DMS includes system analysts and software engineers graduating with honors in MIS and Software Engineering majors form KFUPM. They implement industry standard techniques in system analysis and design with in depth understanding of the business. The areas of focus include CRM, Business Intelligence, Project Management, Workflow Management, ERP... etc.

Website development and management is handled by a highly skilled caliber who had strong experience in the field and who worked in projects for one of the biggest multinational companies worldwide. State of art tools are used in DMS for website development. The areas of focus include Web Programming, Server-side Scripting, Client-side Scripting, Content Management Systems, Web Services, Web Positioning, Web Hosting, On-line Dedicated Servers... etc.

Partners:

A high level conference had taken place in Makkah, and with royal highnesses, excellences, government members, and other high profile personalities present all roads and entrances to the holy city were closed to ensure optimum security. In addition to that, high traffic hindered our trucks from flexibly moving and maneuvering within the city. The Saudi Distribution company put together an emergency plan wherein it set to change its delivery vehicles to motorcycles.

Within hours a clear plan and process was put in place that included the rental of motorcycles, a communication system with the authorities to inform of plate numbers and driver information and to allow delivery of required publications. SDC was able to resume its delivery operations normally and return to the normal numbers in a record time.

Business continuity
To ensure the business continuity an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is put in place to prevent undesired interruptions. That system is also backed by a fire protection system.

Security
To prevent unauthorized access to or from our private network, DMS installed secured firewalls. Anti-virus corporate solutions are also in place with continuous updates to prevent malicious attacks on the network.
